Here is your weekly Friday High Five! And a list of what I’m enjoying or pondering.
What I’m reading —
The life-saving power of mental health first aid in schools in The Independent. First published in 2018, it is still relevant today. The charity Young Minds may be able to assist if you need some help online or in the UK. They have some good resources. *Let me know if you have any further suggestions and I’ll add them to the post.*
What I’m watching —
Remarkable Places to Eat with Fred Sirieix and Angela Harnett. An outstanding program with a poor title that really made me reflect on the service industry, and the quality of care and attention that goes into restaurant food and cafes in Venice. In this program Fred compares a good risotto to a beautiful woman… it’s funny, and very accurate the way he does it.
Watch the program and let me know what you think.
TED Talk I’m watching —
The Secret Language of Trees by Camille Defrenne and Suzanne Simard.
Ever since I watched Judi Dench’s My Passion For Trees on BBC about her love for trees, I have been fascinated by the way that trees help the earth.
“Most of the forest lives in the shadow of the giants that make up the highest canopy. These are the oldest trees, with hundreds of children and thousands of grandchildren. They check in with their neighbors, sharing food, supplies, and wisdom gained over their long lives. They do all this rooted in place, unable to speak, reach out, or move around.”
Trees particularly fascinate me because I think about the tree that cried when it heard about the death of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings upon him. Amazing...
Quote I’m pondering —
Nothing is impossible; the word itself says "I'm possible." -- Audrey Hepburn
What did you think was impossible, but is now possible?
Go for it! And let me know how I can be of assistance!
What I’ve written this week —
And, as always, please give me feedback on Twitter. Which ‘highfive’ above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Let me know! Just send a tweet to @SaiyyidahZaidi and put #HighFive at the end so I can find it.
Have a wonderful weekend,
P.S. — I’m going to be writing my Q&A blog later today so please send me your questions. Anything on human potential, high performance, coaching, mentoring, positive psychology, practical theology… anything. If I can answer it I will. But be quick, I will be writing my Q&A in about 2 hours and we need the questions in before then. (Try and keep it to less than 50 words!).
Ma salaama for now.
