thinking clearly when the stakes are high
Coaching & Leadership Advisory
I am a leadership advisor, coach and trusted thought partner to FTSE 100 CFOs, CEOs and senior leaders working in complex environments where the quality of judgement carries significant consequence. I am often engaged as a sounding board when the stakes are high, expectations intensify, and the questions do not present in simple form. My work sits at the intersection of leadership advisory and reflective practice, supporting leaders to think clearly, exercise sound judgement and develop authority that is both effective and internally coherent.
For over 15 years I have provided confidential thought partnership on complex strategic, relational and organisational questions. Engagements frequently begin at moments of transition, increased responsibility or heightened scrutiny — points at which the margin for error narrows and careful thinking becomes essential.
In practice, I am often brought in when the situation demands careful judgement rather than quick answers.
Together we work with questions such as:
- decision-making in conditions of uncertainty
- authority and legitimacy in role
- working with boards and senior stakeholders
- navigating competing expectations
- leading through change
- holding complexity without premature simplification
The focus is not speed of response, but clarity that supports sound judgement over time.
My early career was as a Chartered Architect, before moving into senior leadership in local government, where at 36 I became one of the youngest directors. I led multidisciplinary public and private sector teams responsible for complex capital and asset programmes involving multiple stakeholders. Having often been underestimated earlier in my career, I learned to rely less on assumption and more on curiosity, developing a way of working that prioritises careful listening, thoughtful challenge and openness to multiple perspectives.
This experience shaped my understanding of leadership as structural and relational, requiring the capacity to hold competing interests, ambiguity and responsibility with steadiness, and continues to inform how I work with leaders today.
In 2010, guided by a clearer sense of direction, I moved to a portfolio career and qualified as a coach through Meyler Campbell, where I now serve as Faculty, Tutor and Supervisor. My work integrates critical thinking, evidence-informed practice and a sustained interest in identity, belonging and authority. I create conditions in which leaders can think carefully, speak honestly and engage the questions beneath the immediate question, particularly where responsibility is significant and easy answers are insufficient.
Although I work internationally, I live in London with my husband, our two adult children, and Tiger the cat. Outside my professional work I enjoy cinema, travel, and learning new things — most recently improvisation comedy, which continues to remind me of the importance of presence, responsiveness and not over-rehearsing what matters most.
